looking for a new bed

this fabulous bed is a dream.  industrial and modern.  love.

and this floating walnut platform bed.  wish i knew a carpenter.

and this bed, for a little whimsy, would be super fun to "play" on.

beachy style for the home

our house is still on the market and i have faith that it will sell when it is good and ready and that the perfect couple will see it, love it, and buy it.

in the meantime i can daydream about what my house down the shore will look like, especially if i had a million dollars.  i never go for the theme-y houses but i do like the idea of homes that are styled to fit the location.  airy, light, full of natural materials that are local and beautiful.

now why don't my walls look like that?

i am so often amazed at people's creative talents.  especially when it comes to mounting artwork and framed pictures on a big bare wall.  for some reason, i hesitate to put nail holes in the wall for fear that i will pick the wrong spot or measure incorrectly or the whole darn thing will turn out looking like i drank a bottle of tequila, spun around with my head on a bat, and then tried to hang the stupid pieces with my feet.  sorry, where was i?  so whenever i am checking out decorating magazines or images on-line, i am always drawn to the walls that have it all together.  or rather, their owners who have it all together.  here are some examples:

if i woke up in this home...i would have died and gone to heaven.

seriously, who actually gets to live here?
apparently not me.  a mr. stuart membery is the lucky one who gets to call bali his own little paradise.  not new jersey.  not that i am jealous or anything.
this is him...the lucky devil.  he is grinning so big because he knows i would probably pay to live under his dining room table.  shame on him.

look at his bedroom.  i could happily lounge in a plush white robe while tanned and muscle-y men bring me cool water with raspberries floating in it, the latest gossip magazines, and rub my so-sore neck muscles.  they are sore because i just finished doing laps in the pool below, obviously.  later, i am inviting friends over for some fabulous indian food and devastatingly delicious tamarind cocktails (i just googled an indian alcoholic beverage...so i actually have NO clue what this is...ha).  we will lounge in the open-air living room listening to billie holiday and chatting into the wee hours of the morning.  i will finish the night with a warm shower, again in the open air.  then off to bed to dream of what magnificence might await me tomorrow. a girl can dream, can't she?  hey stuart...or is it stu...got any room for me?

{side note:  mike just looked over my shoulder at what i am writing about.  i tell him to check out this home.  "it's a little busy" he says.  right.}

smitten list

rainbow sandals
cause it just means summer is around the corner and i will be living in a pair of these.  guess i should get these hooves back into flip-flop shape.  in a previous confession, i divulged that i had not painted my toes since before quinn was born.  still true.  6 months later.  as you may have guessed, mike isn't all that into feet (luckily).
theory cordell maxi dress
my new maxi dress because i L.O.V.E maxi dresses and this one is the softest and most comfortable i have found yet.  and it is stretchy enough that i can yank it down and nurse baby boy.  tmi?  i don't think so.
orgain organic protein shakes from wegman's
perfect for the nursing momma who needs the extra protein and calories.  and it does taste good.  i buy them by the case.
sukan owls pillows
i think i just may be into owls and never really realized it until now.  i bought a stuffed owl for my sister's baby-to-be, i have an owl paper weight and owl salt and pepper shakers.  hmmmm...
heather lins home numbered edition coasters
i think they are super cute and i love numbered things.  is that weird?  i thought about stenciling numbers on the backs of my kitchen chairs but haven't gotten around to it yet.  so maybe these will quiet that need for a bit.

smitten list

this stuff really has helped my severely dry and chapped hands.  goes on every night before bed.  and it isn't greasy!  love it!
this stuff is literally a magic potion.  and i told my sister that with a few excited expletives thrown in.  i had no idea how filthy my bathtub was until i met this stuff.  seriously...this stuff is magic.
i have mentioned before (maybe?) that my hair is falling out in clumps ever since quinn turned three months old.  something about hormones and the hair follicles no longer in the resting stage.  so a friend recommended this product and i have only used it for about two weeks and already notice a difference!  huzzah!
eggs
+
feta cheese
eggs and feta cheese...yum.  throw in some tomatoes and some spinach an you have yourself one of my favorite meals.  delish...

quinn's giggles
please please please ignore how silly i sound.  i am well aware that i have become the type of mother that will do whatever it takes for a smile or laugh.  also...ignore how i look - i had worked all night and definitely looked it!  the best part is that quinn watches the videos of himself on the computer and coos and smiles.  it is adorable!
